If you buy any OEM computer parts, you are mostly likely out of luck when it comes to warranty. I purchased this for a seagate HDD. Its a large disk, 3TB, and a have a few others that have been working fine. but its seems like a crapshoot from reading the reviews. HOWEVER, its really your only option for a hame raid, the WD greens are terrible the the Reds are still scarce and expensive. All the other drives in my array were the retail version of the drive that had 3 year warranties, i picked up my most recent oem because the black friday deal was too good to pass on, even with the warranty tacked on. So in short, oem HDD means the oem (you in this case) are responsible for warrantying the drive, just as if it was in a store bought acer it would be up to acer. Just think about it because I never did. Again hopefully it only bought me piece of mind and it will expire with device still in good working order.Read Best Reviews of SquareTrade 2-Year PC Peripherals Protection Plan ($100-125) Here
I had such an easy registration process. I originally thought that if I bought this warranty off of amazon then I was going to have difficulty registering it, so what I did was go in square trade's website first and look up how to register a warranty. I eventually got to some other retailer's registration on square trade's website and I knew from there I could just select amazon as the retailer. I liked purchasing the warranty off of amazon because I was able to get the 2 years instead of having to get the 3 years that is on square trade's website. Once you purchase the warranty off of amazon square trade issues you an email and asks you to take a snapshot of the purchase invoice email that amazon has given to you of the product that you would like to register. If you somehow have deleted your email of the amazon purchase you can wait to you receive the item in the mail and fax over a copy of the interior invoice that is in the box. I hope I have to never use this warranty but I heard they have hassle free returns and I have protection in case my item(s) break. Yes, I bought 2 warranties.Want SquareTrade 2-Year PC Peripherals Protection Plan ($100-125) Discount?
This is the 2nd product I have used the protection plan for Squaretrade. The only way to really judge it is to submit a claim and I have not done so, but it is nice to know I have that option.just trying to register all my warranties with them, and I have many. This one was thought to be a "computer" warranty. Then they corrected it to a "camera" warranty. It was purchased for a Netgear Router. I've wasted too much time trying to get my products registered since last June and I shudder to think if I ever have to use one. When you can't even register your product without having to send them another receipt to do so, and then they don't always seem to know what it's for, it becomes a time-consuming and confusing process that IMHO doesn't bode well for me should the future present me with a circumstance to use one.Yes, I know, they have a lot of raving reviews (some of which have actually used their warranties and some of which haven't)...but I've had a much different experience thus far and I seriously doubt I would purchase another one.
