With the release of these three updated Sony bluray players in 2013 I have put together a quick overview of the main differences between the three to help you decide. I went with the middle of the road S3100 and so far have been very pleased. It pretty much comes down to whichever features you need in your player as all three from a playing bluray perspective are the same. When you are ready to put your big boy audio/videophile pants on, check out the Oppo high end player at the bottom.

exactly all i need. 7.1 ,hdmi, ethernet simple and works great . minor issue is the remote app does not work with this unit at this writing.

but other than that works great. watching judge dredd (2012) with 7.1 AWSOME .VERY HAPPY -GOT RID OF THE SAMSUNG THAT COST > $250 and did less than this one. Sony is on the way back , starting to do things right.....

Unit does not power up with the HDMI cable attached. Tried 2 different TV's with 2 different cables. The player works fine if I power it up and then attach the HDMI cable.

Want Sony BDP-S1100 Blu-ray Disc Player Discount?

Received the Blu-Ray player on time. It is so compact and light, it takes up half the space of my old one. Only had it for about two weeks now, and so far I really like it.

I purchased this unit but could never get a set up menu using HDMI or componant video to work with both of my Samsung HDTV. The HDMI cables appeared to work because the initial screen shot of the colorful blu ray image looking clear and sharp. However after that nothing, no set up menu, no image from the disks I put in to try to get am image. After the initial image it would just shut itself off and

the TV would display the "no signal" statement. Admittedly the unit does work when running through a Sony external receiver but not when directly hoked up to a Samsung HDTV. I also tried almost all commands on the remote trying to get a set up menu but without sucess. Any sugestions would be appreciated.

Thank You
