MapPoint 2013 North America

MapPoint 2013 North America
  • New - Updated street-level maps, new look and 2.5M points of interest.
  • New - Hotel and restaurant reviews and ratings.
  • Insert maps into the work you do in Microsoft Office.
  • Visualize business, customer and demographic data using maps.
  • Create routes and share them to your navigation devices.

For the price I expected a feature rich mapping product. What I got was a product that is hard to use, does not imbed easily into other MSFT products, and didn't do what I thought should be basic functions. Plus, the map quality is primitive at best. Save your money.

How pathetic! I am a MapPoint user and upgraded to the 2013 edition. It is not an upgrade. I feel like one of the original Windows Millennium purchasers. It claims to use updated information but the 2013, yes, I said 2013, edition does not even have 2010 census data in it. This alone makes it only usable by people who havn't figured out that map routes are free. Bye bye, Microsoft. Great job losing another customer. I just wish I didn't purchase volume licenses.

Having used every version of MapPoint ever released, I have constantly run into problems where a certain street exists and DOES SHOW UP in Google maps . . . but is simply not there in MapPoint.

You can click on "Update Construction Information" and it does update but that never fixes the problem. It is always missing tens of thousands of streets.

However, it is much faster to use than Google Maps, MapQuest, etc.

And it allows you to quickly load up numerous sites have them labeled, and draw lines before exporting the map. I just hit Alt-PrintScreen and then paste it into Photoshop to finalize it.

MapPoint is a great product for offline geocoding and geolocating applications. Map data is accurate, and the integration with Office is nice.
