Our old shredder broke so we have been in the market for a new one. A flash sale came up for this shredder and we decided to purchase it because of the reasonable price and because it is a micro-shredder, which is great for added security. Because it shreds everything into .25" X 1" pieces the shredder can only handle 8 thin pieces of paper at a time. However, if you;re shredding receipts or something light and thin, then it can definitely handle more. We've had it for a few weeks now and I'm glad we made the purchase!

Background this shredder was purchased to replace a unit I bought 8 years ago at Staples (not a crosscut). It finally died a complete death in the middle of a major shredding job (10 years of financial records). The unit would usually handle 10-12 pieces of paper, staples, paper clips, etc. Worked flawlessly for 8 years and then boom! Gone. After much research on Amazon, I decided that this apparently mid-sized unit would be a good choice. The good news it was delivered right on time, with, as advertised, easy to handle packaging. The shredding mechanism (cross cut) definitely destroys anything that is processed. Those are the high points. Now for the negatives. This unit definitely does NOT process 8 sheets as stated. It will handle no more then 5 without grinding almost to a halt. The feed mechanism is not great either. Definitely have to be sure that you are perfectly aligned and insert just right to get it to engage and shred. If you are just a bit off in inserting, it will not catch and engage. I had to keep pushing it in and out (no pun intended) to get it to engage (grab the paper) and work effectively. Other bad news is that it definitely overheated and shut down after about 15 -20 minutes of continuous use. I went away, worked out for about 45 minutes and came back to continue my project and it worked as before slow, unsteady but complete in shredding. I am not sure that I am going to keep it because it is just too unwieldy to feed and the overheating is real problem although I'm not sure that I have any more jobs of this magnitude to do. My guess is that to shred several documents at a time, with intermittent use it is OK for most home/home office use. Just disappointed that it does not meet the stated usage claims. This is especially troubling as it is an Amazon branded product and I would expect (as a faithful and steady Amazon customer) that they would be more accurate in their technical specs. Maybe someone at Amazon will read this and revise either the product or the specs to reflect reality.

I have been looking to buy a paper shredder for awhile. This works great and exactly what I wanted for a decent price. The only bad thing is that it gets hot after using it for 5-10 mins and will shut off, but it isn't that much of a bother. Would recommend.

The shredder was packaged very well, using pressed cardboard to secure the shredder in the shipping box. Less plastic, which is great. I didn't attach the wheels, in a single office, there's no need to wheel it around. The CD/DVD slot and the credit card slot works very well on shredding those items. I have a bit of trouble getting the paper to 'catch' in the rollers, I have to push it in. Once in, it does shred paper easily and does handle six pages at a time. I found eight to be a bit iffy. So it's OK. I don't have high volume to shred so I'm satisfied with it. The basket pull out feature makes emptying very easy, as you don't have to remove the heavy ( very heavy) shredding lid. If you need something for more volume shredding I'd recommend another model.
