SSL EV5000D EVOLUTION 5000W Class D Monoblock Amplifier with Remote Subwoofer Level Control
  • One Ohm Stable Mono-Block
  • Strapping capability: Strap two amps together for twice the power (2 Ohm stable)
  • Variable low pass filter: 50 -150Hz
  • Variable subsonic filter: 15 - 40Hz

Quite simply one of the best amps i've ever owned. i've had 2 of these for little over a year now, and they've been abused pounding away at 1 ohm the entire time. I have the strapped to 2 soundstream XXX 15's walled in a Honda prelude. and She recently pushed a 155.7db on term lab. They aint quite as beasty as they claim to be, but they are still pretty damn impressive. By far the best bang for your buck that you'll be able to find.

i look for good underdogs and giv a chance B4 JUDGEMENT..im all bout my music ..ive had rockford amps and kno wut they can do ..but i tried an ssl way back force 2500 mono it was great hits nice def ,not the overated 2500 watts max that it claims but sounds pretty good for what i paid AND ITS SMALL IN SIZE my 3< 12 kickers sounds real good.i stil have that amp running till this day specially now.. from that "see for myself rating". i bought this ssl ev5000d amp thinking its got to be double wut i get from the force ssl..well i say it hit HARD so hard my gps on the deck lost signal on a reg basis aww iwas impressed ... and then it turned to straight S#@! ..3 months after purchase I go on vacation leave car for 7 days, come back crank up put on some music that i been missing ,and this freaking amp blows, fuses fine.. PROTECTION GLEAMING RED THEN GREEN LIGHT BUT NO SOUND..AND THE CAR SMELLS OF ELECTRIC FIRE FOR DAYS..wher the insides of amp burnt up..finally after long trys to get someone at soundstorm for replacement under the 1 year warranty and sending 15 more bucks so they can send it back to me..i get one and its a terrible looking refurb that i hook up asap ..well back on top, gps signal lost, sounds good ,and wouldnt u kno it fREAKIN blows TOO within days of hook up..been in touch bout problems and getn nuthin but run around! still in debates on this issue,as i write, and no emails or calls coming with my mail slip as they said it would to resolve problem... after being told id have an email with a number and paid return for this problem and how sorry they were ...im still waiting ...its been 2 weeks and today ive called for the 7th time and now they trying to play we fixed one, if problem with other amp sent,, u only had 30 days bull, and somehow they have no documentation of the other 5 times ive called and had the pleasure of speakin with someone AND THE 2 WEEKS I'VE BEEN PERSISTENTLY calling period... it was well under 30days when i called and started getting this runaround about the refurb matter fact that started today..and not even 6months since i purchased this PIECE OF S#@! ,,TAKING UP MY TRUNK SPACE WIT NO FREAKIN SOUNDS brand new... u want my advice get the pro install if u still wanna try this piece of CRAP ,so u get that "supposed to be" 5-7 year warranty that probably wont be honered either way ,seeing as they cant honor the first years waranty now!! that way u at least have a chance, maybe..if u still wanna buy 1 tho, if mine ever gets replaced u can have it lol ...ITS GARBAGE they dont make em like they used to!!!! sorry so long but hope this helps

At first when I ordered this item I was rather excited, got it for a pretty good deal from Amazon. After installing the amplifier in my car it only seemed to work for about 2 days before the protection light continuously stayed on. Did quite a bit of research and tried just about everything in the book to reset the amp or just power down and power back up. Nothing seemed to work, and unfortunately the last thing that could be have been wrong with it was it is faulty. Not sure what to do about that since I'm not a registered SSL installer and it seems their coverage only works if you had it installed by a licensed SSL installer, not sure anyone around my area can even do it by their standards. If something could be done about this by Amazon or anyone has any ideas let me know, but so far this amp has been a disappointment.

I looked for weeks doing my research for amps online just trying to find the best $/per watt amp. This amp is NOT 5000w or any of that. I read elsewhere that this bench tested approx. 700 @ 4ohms, 1,400 @ 2 ohms, & 2001 @ 1ohm. I think that is about accurate, give or take a little. I just burned up a 600w max MTX 10" @ 4 ohms. I had a spare 800w 10" Kole that I can beat up when you play with the settings @ 4 ohms but, I don't think I'll burn it up so fast. I'm upgrading to a 2 ohm dvc 12" Alpine SWS 500w rms/ 1500w peak subwoofer that I will run @ 1 ohm. I think that will be a good match with the rms close to where this amp plays and any bass boast should be covered by 1500w peak. I will see real soon.

Oh yeah, I received a refurb instead of new for under $150 and I haven't had a problem yet. I run it really warm for a few hour drive several times a week for work. Also why I'm aiming to run it @ 1 ohm before something happens. Don't run at 4 ohms, it's not that powerful and runs hot.

=================================================== UPDATE 1/1/13 ===================================================

I fried the 1,500w Alpine SWS 12D2 in 4 days. I am now slamming an Alpine SWR 12D2 with 3,000w peak. This amp is really powerful and I doubted it. I had to buy a 2 farad Tsunami capacitor. It really helps but, I can still dim the headlights when I'm hammering it out. I tried to save a few bucks with the capacitor but, this amp needs a second battery and some good subs that can take it. I can top out an Alpine SWR without it cranked and it sounds incredible. Definetly for the big league systems. Im only disappointed in the remote level control is not accurate like the Infinity control I had for years before this beast. Maybe try an another brand of knob.
