So far so good, works well, has same features of radios twice the price. Have had good luck with other Uniden products in the past and seeing I wanted this primarily for my kids to use when out in my dingy wanted a radio that works well, can get wet / float and has weather alerts.

I recently used this radio on a trip by sail boat down the atlantic intercoastal waterway. It worked very well, the output power was definatly adequate for this purpose as was the reception. I used the radio almost exclusively for communication to the coast guard and other authorities along the way seeking information and passage through draw bridges. The battery life is excellant and it really comes in handy to have the backup alkaline battery pack, although I never needed to use it I was reassured to have it in case of a real emergency.

I shopped around and it appeared that I made a good purchase. I use the radio when I kayak and use my Yamaha PWC. This radio is part of my safety gear and purchased it so that when I'm on a long pwc trip, I have a communication device to help me if needed or stranded. I keep it wrapped in a neoprene skull cap or neoprene gloves to cushion it while riding in rough or choppy waters. I do a radio check prior to each use, and it hasn't failed yet. I was thinking about getting another one to communicate with friends sitting beach side when we're riding our toys in the water. I'm very satisfied after a few months with this radio. Good value for the price. Presently, I rate it 4 stars, but it should be 4-1/2 stars.
