As for some people that might buy this product, they may not see a difference between component cables and this HDMI converter. Personally I think it makes a world of difference on newer TV's that up-scale 480 formats and on bigger TV's. The bigger the TV the more distorted the signal gets in component cables. Some may need to free up component cables inputs, or some may only have HDMI inputs, either way this converter will help them too. I tried seeing a difference in Netflix Steaming between the components and the HDMI, and again I could see a clear difference.
In conclusion, this converter gives a very smooth picture. It may not be 1080p or even 720p, but it will definitely clean up the 480p format to a brighter and more colorful state, that in my opinion rivals 720p. Keep in mind though, the Wii was never made to be a high def console, so pixelation is unavoidable. If your expecting it to clear up the resolution of the game and make it blu-ray material, that's not the case. This does a good job of clearing the resolution of your picture. It does not up-scale graphics, just clears up any distortion in the format. This product is for cleaning up a 480p format and making it more crisp. I went into this as a skeptic, but now I fully recommend this. I am very happy. It's just too bad that I just got this.....in a few months the Wii U comes out (which will come HDMI ready).

As many know, the Wii can not output anything higher than 480p through component cables. This UP SCALES the 480p image into 720p or 1080p...it is not true HD, it is 480p cleaned up.For what it does, it does look good. Colours are brighter and more vibrant on Super Nintendo games, and there are less jagged edges on Nintendo 64 games and Wii games. Gamecube games and Wii games that utilize Prog. Scan really benefit from the up scaling.
all in all, This is only recommended for people who can not use Component cables on their HDtv. If you want true 1080p from your Wii Games, use an Emulator.

This has been the answer to my prayers! I have been pulling my hair out wondering how I was going to connect all my electronic gadgets to my LG Cinema Screen 55LM6700 55-Inch Cinema 3D when it only had ONE AV/RCA component input. The Wii to HDMI Converter has allowed me to get rid of using my Wii HD component cables and only use this cute little device to hook it up to my TV via an HDMI cable. It easily connected to the back of my Wii system and I ran an HDMI cable from it to one of the open HDMI input in the back of the TV.This is the HDMI cable I used: AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable (6.5 Feet/2.0 Meters) Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return. No audio cables needed since my TV supports it through the HDMI connection.
The picture was crisp and clear. There was no loss of quality in my video or audio and there was definitely less cluster.

Easy to setup and works as advertised, just supply your own HDMI cable. Upscales the picture, just don't expect a bluray quality picture.Does what the description says, keeps the Wii a wee more relevant. HDMI carries audio as well which was confusing at first. There is a separate "aux out" next to hdmi that I assume allows for alternative audio out sourcing.
