Too bad that it has a busted part, because I've seen similar tripods for $50.00 or more at camera shops. This will be the first item that I've ever returned to Amazon and I'm still debating if I want a replacement or my money back. No problem with the seller ( Cheetah Mount ) as far as delivery, item did arrived ahead of schedule.
UPDATE: Did filed a claim to return the tripod, CheetahMounts contacted me a day later where they told me not to worry about sending the old one back and a new one was already on the way. That's what I call excellent customer service, bought from CheetahMounts before and will do so again in the future.
NEW UPDATE: Did received my replacements tripod from CheetahMounts last week and all is well, tripod is fine for less than $15.00 and once again, excellent service from CheetahMounts :)
Buy Ravelli APLT4 61-inch Light Weight Aluminum Tripod With Bag Now
Purchased two of these Ravelli APLT4 tripods that are to be used for a mobile quick interior set-up of two off camera Nikon SB-910 flash units and umbrellas. These Ravelli APLT4 tripods are perfect for my lightweight, easy to carry for my quick semi-studio lighting set-up. These Ravelli tripods are made of black anaodized aluminum with plastic snap fittings to extend and hold the legs, a plastic crank handle to elevate the center column and a plastic swivel pan head with a Ravelli quick tripod plastic disconnect plate for a camera or flash. There is nothing to assemble and nothing came loose, this tripod is ready to use upon taking it out of it's good nylon bag. I also purchased the heavier Ravelli APGL3 tripod for my camera. There is nothing cheap or flimsey either on these Ravelli model APLT4, but a great quality tripod for the average rigors of amateur's and some pro photographers. In truth, while these tripods might not stand the extreme torture test of some heavy pounding with sledge hammers nor vice grips and the like, but for me, these Ravelli APLT4 and APGL3 tripods will shure to outlast me and fit my needs PERFECTLY! Couldn't be happier with these genuine products. Thank You AMAZON for such great deals with free Super Savings Shipping thru UPS! This tripod is excellent sturdy and works well. The packaging however was extremely poor with included items not even in their packaging and rattling around in the box, whomever packaged it should be fired since packing it like that is bound to cost the company money with unnecessary returns and bad PR.Want Ravelli APLT4 61-inch Light Weight Aluminum Tripod With Bag Discount?
For $20 it's hard to go wrong. This tripod quickly and easily scales from 2 feet to a height that is comfortable for a 6 foot tall person to use at eye level. It's very light, and the handle makes it easy to move around. There's a little shake to it but nothing that will prevent getting a good shot. It comes with a mini tripod that can attach to point and shoot cameras. The fabric carrying case is a nice addition. The rubber feet provide good traction on all indoor surfaces, though I'm not sure how they would fare on grass or rocks.
The one weakness is that with a 300mm zoom lens on a D7000 the tripod has a hard time staying in place if you are taking shots angled downwards (i.e. shooting an object at a 45 degree angle from above). It's not a deal breaker since you can stabilize it by placing your hand on the handle, but the knob that controls the vertical angle does not hold beyond a certain point.
Good value for $20.
EDIT: upgraded to 5 stars since I figured out how to lock the vertical angle. The handle that moves the the swivel head can be rotated and this solves the problem. Those were the first words out of my junior photographer son's mouth..."now THAT'S sexy". Do not be fooled by the cost of this tripod, it is a GIANT leap up from the Samsonite light weight tripod I was using. I LOVE the crank handle for the extra height and, as a rather tall gal, it's nice not to have to "hunch" over the tripod and camera to take a shot when tripod is extended to full height. Having an option to add weight is great, but it's pretty solid without it, even when my camera has a speedlite mounted and is set up to take images in the portrait mode. I love the built in handle directly on the tripod itself, but find the strap on the carrying case to be a little shorter than I'd like. It'd be great if I could carry this cross-body in the bag. The quick release plate is a fantastic improvement over my last tripod and I would absolutely buy this item again. We've already beaten this tripod up pretty good having used it in a variety of scenarios and no scratches or dings that I can see. Tomorrow (well later today actually), it will accompany me to an all day outdoor Christian Music Festival and I look forward to having it on deck to help me take night shots of my favorite performer.
