I installed these speakers in the cabin of my 26' sailboat. I installed a full stereo system in the boat and these box speakers were the first to be hooked-up. They were great because it was the first time I ever had tunes in the boat and it was nice to listen to music while installing the rear speakers.

As soon as my rear speakers were hooked up, they really drowned out these little box speakers even though the rear speakers were outside 12' away and I was inside, between these box speakers. The rear speakers are Pyle PLMRX69 rated at 93db/1w-m.

Like many of the other reviews mentioned, the mounting hardware has issues. The bracket is great and fits the speaker well. The problem is that the big white thumb-bolt that affixes the speaker to the bracket at each end bottoms out in the threaded brass nut before it fully clamps the speaker. Sounds like many people have tried to tighten this too far and stripped it, etc. I simply put some washers between the bolt and the bracket and that solved the problem .. no big deal.

They sound good and actually put out a little low end bass, but I would not recommend them for any application except inside an enclosed area, like the cabin of a boat. If want to hear your speakers while the engine is running, get speakers that are more efficient; these speakers do not even have an efficiency rating.

Well, I am sorry to say that al the positive reviews of this item are incredibly false. I am only giving 1 star because this item shipped reasonably fast (4 days)but that is all that is good. in the description it says that there are 3 different speakers inside the box as well as a crossover network and a 1 inch tweeter. all of these things are false.

First off is with the wiring. inside each speaker box there are 2 wires that lead from the terminal posts STRAIGHT to what they call the "subwoofer". then there are 2 other wires that go STRAIGHT from the "subwoofer" to what they call the "tweeter". so the signal goes straight into the speakers.

Second is the crossover. well there is no crossover so there isnt much explaining to do. inside the box there is a small amount of sound dampening material that is all.

Finally allow me to say that there are only 2 speakers inside the box and not three. i dont even consider there to be 2 speakers actually. the little silver dome on the left hand side at the top next to the port is simply just a dustcap glued straight onto the front. there is no driver behind it. and the little hole in the upper right makes no sount even after i disconnected the subwoofer.

I got a set of these speakers and set of the 4" just like these and installed them in an antique boat that I am about finished restoring. My family and I couldn't believe how the 4 speakers sound. While my wife and I are working on the boat my wife plugs in her Iphone to the boat stereo deck and we listen to tunes through the boat stereo system with a battery charger going to keep the batteries up. We can't wait till we will finally get the new/old boat on the water next week for first time.

How can you release a product for sale that doesn't work? I'm not talking about the speaker itself but the mounting hardware. The screws on the knobs that connect the speaker to the bracket are too long so you can't tighten them down to hold the speaker in place. Yes, people have said to insert washers between the knob and the bracket BUT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT WITH A NEW PRODUCT OUT OF THE BOX!!!! Also, if you overtighten the knob,the nut,which is just glued to the hole on the inside of the speaker box, will come loose and then you have have to take the speaker apart and reglue the nut back in place. So after having to do this and also doing the washer fix I was able to get them mounted. A lot of extra work just to get 2 external speakers mounted to a wall.
