This is a great low profile mount. I was a little fearful of the cheap price and ZERO reviews at the time of purchase (10/5/12) but it turned out to be one of the best deals on Amazon (and that's saying a lot!).

Pros:

-Fits the iphone 5 perfectly even with case.

-Not bulky at all. I've owned other windshield mounts in the past and all of them have had big gaudy knobs to loosen and tighten the radius of movement in a screw fashion.

-The mount can be turned vertical or horizontal with no problem allowing viewing of GPS or general phone/apps just fine.

-This is the first mount I've owned that fits super tightly/securely and does not bounce around AT ALL during driving (even on gravel!). This also means that it makes no up and down clicking from the plastic parts colliding together.

-The device comes with a dashboard mount. I have not used it but the adhesive appears to be rather permanent.

Cons:

-The product comes with NO directions which surprisingly caused me a bit of distress even with an item this simple..explained in next con.

-At first opening of the product I could not for the life of me get it to stick to the windshield b/c it was completely flat with no suction. I messed with it for a good 15 minutes and was about to throw it in the garbage justifying the cheap price. This is when I noticed the small black on black logo of a lock being shut and open on the back of the mount body. It turns out that the center mount needs to be twisted to the unlock setting/applied to the windshield and then adjusted to "lock". Has stuck perfectly for a week straight!

Neutral:

As stated above, this mount fits the i5 perfectly with a width of 2.31 inches this con does not apply to my phone. However if I had a phone with a wide width such as the Galaxy Nexus (2.67in) or Galaxy S3(2.5in) it may be a little tougher to slide the phone in due to the manual opening of the clamp. However this ergonomic style is what makes the phone not have clicking settings that leave the body loose and give them the flaw of bouncing around during driving.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and it does fit, but just barely. It takes some effort to get the phone in the gripper. I just installed it, so we'll see how it goes on the road. It seems to be holding just fine.

Instructions (since this product did not come to me with instructions):

A) Clean off the surface you wish to put the device (either windshield or dashboard) and let dry.

B) Remove clear thin protector sheet that is on top of the clear plastic suction piece.

C.1) If putting the device on the windshield, press the clear plastic suction piece against the windshield, hold, and with your other hand turn the black rotating piece, the one just opposite the clear plastic suction piece, until the you sense the rotating piece lock into place.

C.2) If putting the device on the dashboard, remove the red protector sheet on top of the flat black piece. Secure the flat black piece, sticky part down, to the dashboard (probably better to choose a relatively flat area on your dashboard). Then, press the clear plastic suction piece against the flat black piece, hold, and with your other hand turn the black rotating piece, the one just opposite the clear plastic suction piece, until the you sense the rotating piece lock into place.

D) With your phone in one hand pull open the moveable side of the gripper, place the phone between the two sides of the gripper, then release the moveable side of the gripper.

This product is easy to use, and works well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it didn't stick to my dashboard, so I had to use it in the manner indicated in the picture -attached to the windshield. Not a big deal, but it would have been nice to stick it to the dashboard

Just received mine today. Very fast shipping. For $5, this is an excellent product, and all I needed. Like a previous review mentioned, there is no instruction pamphlet, which would have been nice, but it's easy enough to figure out. The suction cup is flat, so you need to press it against the window and twist the base above the suction cup, to get it to work. Make sure to remove the the clear film from the suction cup, it's easy to overlook. The holder has a good snug fit on an iPhone 5. I can't imagine it could handle much wider. The arms that grip the phone have a soft material, so there's no worry in scratching the device.

I'm only giving four stars because I've only had it a week, but so far, so good! Once I figured out how to get it to stick to my windshield (had to wet the suction cup a little and move from "unlocked" to "locked"), it has stayed put! The weather has had a 40 degree shift this last week--from 70 degrees F to 30 degrees F--and it's still holding strong! It keeps my iPhone 5 solidly in place and even the bumpy, bouncy Chicago streets haven't knocked this off my window yet. Great product, super cheap, got it faster than anticipated...I highly recommend!
