This works perfectly. I bought this to hook up my Apple TV with my old tv that doesn't support hdmi. I was afraid it can't convert Apple TV signals correctly but I was wrong. Now I can use my Apple TV playing Netflix movies on my old fashioned TV.

Just be warned, I ordered a refurb model off of Amazon Warehouse Deals and I got an incorrect converter. The outer packaging says it is an HDMI2AV box but inside was an HDMI2VGA box with HDMI2VGA manual which is completely wrong. It seems to be good quality and it does convert HDMI to VGA, but it isn't what I needed. I was confused about what the sole 1 star reviewer was talking about, but now I see what he means about it being a "connection to like a computer". I'll update this review once my replacement comes in. I posted some customer images so you can see what I mean.

Got the (correct) replacement in and it works fine. It converts a FULL HDMI connection to a AV (RCA) connection. Obviously the quality of image is reduced but it does work fine. One issue is that my phone doesn't power the unit alone so I have to use the additional USB plug. However, they make it clear that only some devices will be able to run the converter without additional power so no minus of a star. For the money, the build quality could be better and an addition of maybe an LED light would help to know if the unit is running or not. Overall I am satisfied with the purchase.

Got this to replace a converter of a different brand. This one works great. A tip for people that have a device that can't self power the unit and don't want to use a USB port. A cellphone charger with mini USB such as used on some motorola phones will power the unit fine.

Very affordable and simple to use. It just works! I use this product to connect my droid bionic smartphone to my tv and to my video system in my truck. Its great being able to connect the phone to a larger screen!
