Overall I like this quartz metronome for it's simple and does its job well. It gives two choice of tempo sounds that are pretty pleasant wooden click, unlike the beeping sounds from some electric metronomes. The dial is clear and easy to use.The only problem I had with it is with the earphone jack. When I plug in the earphone I can only hear the sound in one ear (I tried several of my headphones) and the beeping is somehow different from when it's played out. I'm not sure if it's a common problem or not but it doesn't bother me that much because I don't really plan to use headphones with it.
Since I just got the item there's no way to tell the battery life. Hopefully the 9v battery that came with it would last a while.

Seiko metronome has more features than most. Our daughter did have to take it to her piano
teacher to figure out what the numbers on the
dial represented as the packaging did not explain.
However, the piano teacher asked where we purchased
such a nice metronome and now tells students to
purchase this item. Very well pleased!!!!

I had already had a metronome, but was in search of new one that had a dial to adjust the tempo, so I went to the local music store to purchase one. I came home with this one! If you are serious about learning an instrument, a metronome is a must have!Pros:
Dial. As I stated earlier, I personally like metronomes that have a dial that you use to adjust the tempo that it ticks at. I like this much better than the ones that use a button to adjust every individual interval. The dial is much quicker to operate, and it is also convenient to use the dial to find out a tempo while listening to a song. For example, you can quickly turn the dial to the tempo you think the piece is played at, and then move the dial in a direction until you find the exact tempo. My piano teacher values this a lot, especially when we're trying to find the tempo that I'm playing a piece. Compared to the button operation on some metronomes, this dial is far superior.
Headphone jack. This is especially useful when practicing at night on a digital piano. I don't use this too much, but I think it would be useful to a lot of night owls out there, who practice at midnight or something like that.
Various ways of being flexible. On this metronome, not only can you adjust the volume, but you also can choose between two pitches that the beat beeps at.
Cons:
Sound. I find the sound the metronome makes every time it beeps is "ugly." The beep sounds electronically reproduced, and I don't like that type of sound. I'd prefer the more "natural" ticking sound of my other metronome. This one's is more annoying, and sometimes distracts me. It just doesn't sound as precise. This aspect of the product probably ranges from person to person, making it hard to explain. In the end, it is your own opinion that changes the way you think about the sound. For most people, the sound won't matter, though.
Cannot go up to 250 BPM. This is a minor problem that very few people might be bothered by. My other metronome can go up to 250 BPM, but this can only go to 208. You probably won't play any pieces this fast, but it is useful for beginning students if they can set the metronome to, for example, eighth note=125 BPM. If you don't understand, than you probably won't need to get a metronome that goes up to 250 BPM.
Overall, this is an excellent metronome, and I highly recommend it to students, teachers, and music enthusiasts. This simple device is all you need in order to keep time as you practice your instrument. Sturdy and quality made with clear, volume adjustable tones. Additionally, the input jack for headphones is very convenient so the rest of the household doesn't have to hear the constant clicking. If you are wanting a quality metronome without spending a lot of money, I recommend you purchase this one.
